In his more than 16 years at Schwartz Communications, Mark McClennan has led teams in a variety of industries, including consumer technology, financial services, health care, IT, fraud and manufacturing. He has helped the agency grow from 40 people to 200 people and more than $25 million in revenues.
He heads the company’s Business and Financial Services Group, as well as the Schwartz Research Group, and is the Boston Consumer Group Practice leader. He helps spearhead the agency’s social media efforts and his teams have been recognized for creating and executing B2B and B2C social media campaigns that drive business growth.
McClennan has worked with companies ranging from venture-funded start-ups to large public companies, including Fiserv, Epocrates, Bill Me Later, ID Analytics and others. He has guided companies through IPOs and acquisitions. He has coordinated successful public relations campaigns for companies in Europe and Asia.
McClennan’s teams have been recognized with more than 50 awards for excellence in public relations, including five Silver Anvils and four Silver Anvil Awards of Excellence.
McClennan has a B.A. in public relations and political science from the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University. He is a frequent blogger and published writer on public relations, measurement and social media. He has spoken at industry conferences and universities on ethics and social media, measurement and the evolution of public relations. McClennan is past chair of the Northeast District of PRSA and former president of PRSA Boston. In his spare time, he serves as an elected member of the Ways & Means Committee for the Town of Framingham.
