Todd Cooley, APR
is founder and principal of the Todd Cooley Company
, a marketing communications and public relations firm. He personally serves each client as chief strategist, account manager and single point of contact, while orchestrating the efforts of independent specialists carefully selected to meet each client’s distinct requirements.
Cooley has been helping businesses establish relationships, enhance credibility and promote products and services for more than two decades. He has worked with a diverse array of clients, including entrepreneurial start-ups, local businesses, public utilities, nonprofit organizations, professional service firms and major corporations. His experience includes engagements with such high-profile companies as Fragomen, PricewaterhouseCoopers, CB Richard Ellis and Anheuser-Busch.
Prior to establishing the Todd Cooley Company in 2011, Cooley spent eight years in marketing and corporate communications with McGladrey
, the nation’s fifth largest CPA and business advisory firm. He initially was responsible for overseeing public relations, advertising, internal communications and online communications for McGladrey Capital Markets, the firm’s investment banking subsidiary. He subsequently moved to the parent company to help develop and implement its thought leadership and content marketing programs.
Before joining McGladrey, Cooley led his own boutique public relations firm for eight years, where his clients included Bud Light Pro Beach Volleyball, Nissan, Fidelity Investments, Experian and ViewSonic. He previously spent several years in Los Angeles with major public relations firms Rogers Finn Partners
An accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Cooley currently serves on the organization’s national Board of Directors. He previously has served on the boards of both the Los Angeles and Orange County chapters, been president of the Orange County chapter, and chairman of the Western District (comprising chapters in Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, California and Hawaii). He received the organization’s Distinguished Service Award in 2008.
Cooley has long been active in the local community. He spent four years on the 2-1-1 Orange County
board and served as chair of its community relations committee. He previously was president of the American Cancer Society’s Newport-Mesa unit and provided pro bono consulting to organizations ranging from Chapman University to the Pacific Symphony Orchestra.
Cooley earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism/public relations from the University of Southern California.
