PRSA: Media Industry Must Be More Transparent to Restore Public's Trust — PRWeek Letter to the Editor

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) had a letter to the editor published in the July 22, 2011, print and online editions of PRWeek (UK) in response to an article detailing the reputational hit that journalism has taken in the wake of the News Corp. phone-hacking scandal.

From PRWeek.com/uk — Media Industry Must Be More Transparent
Published: July 22, 2011

The point made by GolinHarris MD Matt Neale that media outlets need to reassess their commitment to their own internal ethics is interesting ('Latest News International revelations show containment strategy has failed', prweek.com/uk, July 12).

It falls in line with what PR and our clients have gone through in recent years: counselling clients to be transparent and to fully disclose issues that are either illicit or may raise questions over potential improprieties.

Associate Director of Public Relations
