McCormick Resigns from PRSA Board

NEW YORK (October 5, 2011) — Gary McCormick, APR, Fellow PRSA has resigned as a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Board of Directors and as an officer of the corporation, effective Oct. 4, 2011.
 
McCormick stated he is resigning for personal and professional reasons.
 
“I accepted Gary’s resignation with great personal regret,” said PRSA Chair and CEO Rosanna M. Fiske, APR. “He has served our organization with distinction, and we’ve been fortunate to have his counsel and leadership. We wish him well as he continues to succeed in his professional and personal endeavors.”
 
Article V. Section (3) of the PRSA bylaws states that “Vacancies occurring among the directors, other than the office of the chair and CEO or the chair-elect, may be filled for the balance of the unexpired term by the board at any regular meeting or at any special meeting of the board called for that purpose.” McCormick’s term would have expired Dec. 31, 2011.
 
PRSA’s Board of Directors will discuss a succession plan at its next meeting, which will take place Oct. 13 and 14, in Orlando, Fla.
