— The Public Relations Society of America
(PRSA) has honored Brazilian educator and author Paulo Nassar
with its 2012 Atlas Award for Lifetime Achievement in International Public Relations. Presented today at the PRSA 2012 International Conference
in San Francisco, the Atlas Award annually recognizes a public relations practitioner who has made extraordinary contributions to the global practice of public relations over the span of his or her career.
Nassar, a professor and coordinator of graduate studies in public relations at the Escola de Comunicações e Artes, da Universidade de São Paulo (ECA-USP) and president of the ABERJE – Brazilian Association for Business Communication, played a key role in the founding of three separate organizations dedicated to excellence in public relations: the Association of Corporate Communication in the Portuguese Language (ACELP), the Association of Corporate Communication in Mercosur (AMERCO) and the Public Relations and Business Communications Reference Center at Aberje.
“As an educator, Paulo has been instrumental in developing the next generation of public relations professionals in Brazil,” said PRSA Chair and chief executive officer Gerard F. Corbett, APR, Fellow PRSA
. “But through his work with ACELP and AMERCO and his published works, he’s established himself as true leader within the international public relations community and a shining example for aspiring communicators throughout the region.”
Nassar also is the author of “Organizing for Corporate Social Responsibility”and “Will the Corporation Survive?” as well as “An American Journey,” the multi-generational memoir of his immigrant family.
“In recent years we have seen significant advancement and transition in the field, highlighting its unbreakable link with international marketing, global media and new technology,” Nassar said. “I have dedicated my career to creating awareness of developments being made in the field of international public relations, and I am truly honored by this recognition of my contributions to the profession.”
