PRSA Chair Quoted in PRWeek on the Passing of Industry Pioneer Ofield Dukes

Rosanna M. Fiske, APR, chair and CEO of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) commented in a Dec. 8, 2011, article in PRWeek on the passing of public relations industry pioneer Ofield Dukes, APR, Fellow PRSA. Fiske remembered Dukes’ passion for enhancing diversity within the profession and the many efforts he made to help her and other PRSA members enhance their careers.

Fiske said: “Had it not been for Ofield carrying the message of the importance of ethnic diversity, many of us in public relations would have either been too afraid or not passionate enough to speak up.”

She noted that Dukes’ commitment to promoting diversity in the profession extended to his work leading PRSA's first national diversity task force in 2002 and 2003.

Fiske is the first Latina CEO in the 64-year history of PRSA. She told PRWeek that Dukes wrote a letter of recommendation on her behalf when she was seeking election as PRSA chair.
