PRSA Comments on Growing Value of Public Relations in PRDaily and Op-Eds

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) had op-eds published in Ragan’s PRDaily and reflecting on a new communications industry report which found that public relations and word-of-mouth marketing are the fastest growing sectors of the communications industry.
Writing in the Oct. 10, 2011, issue of PRDaily, Rosanna M. Fiske, APR, PRSA chair and CEO, says that the 2011-15 Communications Industry Forecast from private investment firm Veronis Suhler Stevenson, which found that public relations and word-of-mouth marketing spending in the United States grew by 12.8 percent in 2010, to $5.7 billion, is a clear indication of the significant and growing value of public relations to the business community.
According to Fiske, the report shows that public relations “should be on par with advertising and marketing as a go-to service for companies’ ongoing brand-building campaigns.”
Fiske adds in an Oct. 17, 2011, op-ed in that “as client objectives and demands continue to shift, and the world becomes a more connected and digitized environment, I am confident the public relations industry will continue to experience expanded growth and appreciation for its services.”
