PRSA: Corporate Blogs Provide Invaluable Resource in Digital Age — The Globe and Mail Letter to the Editor

PRSA had a letter to the editor published April 23, 2011, in The Globe and Mail, a Canadian national daily newspaper, commenting on the value of corporate blogs for internal and external engagement and reputation management. The letter, signed by PRSA Chair and CEO Rosanna M. Fiske, APR, was in response to an April 21, 2011, Globe and Mail article about crisis communications in the digital age.

Your article, "PR Disasters Burn Hot And Fast" (online, April 21), provides a timely assessment of the challenges of reputation management and crisis communications in the digital age. But one important communications channel – corporate blogs – is given short shrift.
These blogs provide invaluable internal and external engagement and thought-leadership opportunities for companies wishing to be more than just another name in the phone book.
