Marcia DiStaso Named PRSA's 2016 Outstanding Educator of the Year

Indianapolis, IN., Oct. 24, 2016Marcia DiStaso, Ph.D., APR, was awarded the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Outstanding Educator Award during the Monday Networking Luncheon at the PRSA 2016 International Conference. The Outstanding Educator of the Year award recognizes a PRSA member who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of public relations education through college or university teaching.
For more than 13 years DiStaso has taught in higher education including appointments at the University of South Florida, the University of Miami and Pennsylvania State University, where she won the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication Promising Professor Award.
DiStaso's public relations campaigns with her students have received national recognition including a Silver Anvil Award of Excellence, three Hermes Creative Awards, a MarCom Award, a Communitas Award, a PRSA PR Serving America Award, and qualifying as a finalist for an IPRA Golden World Award.
DiStaso is very involved with Page Society, the Institute for Public Relations, and the PRSA, where she chaired the Financial Communications section for three years. She serves on the editorial board of many journals, as the immediate past chair of the PRSA Educators Academy and as a board member for the International Public Relations Research Conference.
DiStaso's currently serves as an associate professor in the College of Communications at Pennsylvania State University. She teaches public relations and social media courses, conducts research, holds leadership positions in the public relations profession and operates a consulting business.
