PRSA Appoints Laura Kane as Chief Communication Officer

NEW YORK, March 14, 2016  –  Today, The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the largest professional organization serving the U.S. public relations community, announced the appointment of Laura Kane to the newly created position of Chief Communication Officer effective March 14, 2016. Kane will report to Joseph Truncale, PRSA CEO, and will serve as a member of the organization's senior leadership team.

In her new role, Kane will oversee strategic communications and public relations for the organization, which encompasses advocacy, content creation, media relations and digital communications.
“Laura is a highly regarded PR professional who has been on the forefront of change within the communication business and has deep experience that encompasses advertising, digital, branding, content strategy and more,” said Truncale. “I look forward to working with her, as we continue to develop programs that deliver on our mission of advancing the profession and the professional.“

Kane joins PRSA from Marsh, where she served as SVP, Global Head of Media Relations and External Affairs where she oversaw the development of its global media relations strategy, processes and standards across 130 countries. Prior to Marsh she led the corporate communications function at Aflac where she developed integrated programs that enhanced the corporate reputation and grew its name recognition from 32% to more than 94%. Before that she was SVP of Communications at the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce where she was responsible for refreshing the organization's brand, overseeing strategic communication initiatives, media relations, publications and member communication.
Earlier in her career, Kane worked for ABC Television’s Multimedia group where she was responsible for overseeing ABC's first ecommerce efforts and internet sites, as well serving as a consultant for NHK, Japan’s national public broadcasting organization.
