’s Richard Carufel caught up with PRSA chair and CEO Gerard Corbett, APR, Fellow PRSA
at the PRSA 2012 International Conference where the two spoke in an interview
about what a year it’s been for both Corbett and the association.
During his year as chair and CEO, Corbett tackled various engagement and advocacy issues including the PR Defined initiative, launching the industry’s MBA program and responding to various ethics issues that arose.
In his interview with Carufel, Corbett express that his proudest moment as PRSA chair and CEO was his ability to increase the level of engagement throughout PRSA national and PRSA chapters. “I've visited about 10 chapters this year and spoken at other locations around the world, and I get a great sense that people are paying attention, enthusiastic and focused on the right thing — ethical behavior — and to me, that's the greatest outcome we can have,” said Corbett.
Corbett also discusses big industry issues such as public relations changing relationship with journalists, “fake” consumer reviews and challenges for those seeking job opportunities in the public relations industry.
