PRSA Chair and CEO Gerard F. Corbett, APR, Fellow PRSA
, is quoted in a Jan. 25, 2012, article
published by The Business Journals
about how business leaders can most effectively respond to negative media attention about their companies.
Corbett says that being transparent is key in the solution to bad publicity.
“I think the primary reason folks get bad publicity is because they are not telling the truth,” said Corbett. “They are not being forthcoming with their constituencies, and they are not being authentic. It’s not rocket science — just be open and tell the truth.”
Corbett goes on to say that when faced with a serious crisis, businesses should “tell everyone about it. Tell them what’s going on and what you are doing about it.”
