John O’Hurley is recognized as one of television’s busiest and most versatile actors. Additionally, he is a Broadway star, a New York Times best-selling author and Billboard chart-topping composer. Most recently O’Hurley joined the cast of Lifetime Channel's prime time hit "Devious Maids," which will premiere on June 1. O’Hurley is best known for his role on Seinfeld, which is now the number one syndicated show in the world and can be seen in 85 countries.
O’Hurley’s unusual versatility as both entertainer and businessman has continually been a focus of many features in magazines such as Business Week and TIME. He has also become a Thanksgiving Day mainstay as the host of “The National Dog Show presented by Purina,” an annual NBC Sports tradition which reaches approximately 22 million viewers each year.
“We are thrilled to welcome John O’Hurley, an iconic comedic talent best known for his role as J. Peterman on Seinfeld and his hosting duties on ‘Family Feud’, as master of ceremonies for the 2015 Silver Anvil Awards,” said Kathy Barbour, APR, PRSA 2015 National Chair. “Prior to becoming a beloved actor, John was a public relations professional and a PRSA member, so it is exceptionally fitting that he would host the ceremony for the industry’s most prestigious award.”
Ranked the “#1 Public Relations Industry Event in New York” by BizBash, this annual event honors organizations that have successfully addressed a contemporary public relations issue with exemplary professional skill, creativity and resourcefulness. As public relation’s most rigorous examination of professional excellence and a campaign’s success, an impressive group of 136 public relations campaigns have been designated as finalists for the esteemed Silver Anvil Award this year.
Meant to symbolize the forging of public opinion, the Silver Anvil Award recognizes outstanding professional achievement in 13 categories and over 60 sub-categories. Entries are judged on their research, planning, execution and evaluation, while also taking factors such as creativity, ethics and budget into consideration.
